The “Service Académique d’Information et d’Orientation “(SAIO) represents the regional education authority in the field of guidance and counselling. It is responsible for the implementation of the information and guidance policy in the region and evaluates its results. This service promotes the development of careers education in schools, contributes at the long life guidance policy, implements training courses for guidance counsellors and for teachers, promotes partnerships in the field of careers information and guidance, contributes at the implementation of new training courses, strengthens the links between secondary school and higher education, manages the network of the information and guidance centres (CIO).
The SAIO of Strasbourg developed the international dimension in guidance activities. It is the support of the Euroguidance national resources center of Strasbourg, it signed a cross-border agreement with the Bad Wurttemberg guidance services for exchanges of professionals, of practices and for common continuing training activities. It is also involved in some European projects.
The CIOs for more than 20 years participated in European projects, they organize and participate in thematic study visits, are involved in hosting foreign colleagues on group or for work shadowing experiences on several topics: dropout prevention in France, multicultural dimension in guidance, e-guidance, transitions: between secondary schools and higher education, between schools and work etc.
